A Luxury Night at the Hotel Royal Savoy - Lausanne

For the first time, I got the chance to appreciate my city as a tourist at the newly reopened Hotel Royal Savoy. Located in the heart of historic Lausanne, this luxury hotel dating from 1909 offered many surprises that joined my lust for beautiful things. This time, 5 star kind of beautiful things. Zoom into our experience of what use to be home exile to the royalty and aristocrats from around the world.

After walking into a glowing white marble entrance, my husband and I were directly attracted to the lobby. Two options of reaction were opened to us: wow or a silence of stupefaction and we did both. From the modern furniture to the 70's chandelier, a real scene of art took place in front of us.

Originally, this hotel was styled in the manner of the Grands Chateaux. Maria Vafiadis, pioneer in luxury interior design and her team MKV Design, have refurbished and designed the interiors with a new wing with respect of the heritage property. Everything is harmoniously integrated together with balance, style and finesse.

Deluxe Room

We discovered our room and were surprised by the dark and glamorous ambiance that it offered. A real contrast with the white and bright hotel. Marbly bathroom, stylish modern high tech design, french balconies, King size bed, Hermes amenities, Nespresso machine, free non-alcoholic minibar, the list goes on and on about all the details and comfort made for anyone to feel instantly relaxed.

In-house restaurant

La Brasserie du Royal is Royal. With a Signature Chef, triple Michelin starred Marc Haeberlin, the chic restaurant upholds its reputation. Service was great, our waiter, Matthieu, could not have been more helpful or happy to serve us as he gave us advices, descriptions and possible adaptation to our alimentary restrictions. The dinner started with a mixed salad and an absolutely delicious « perfect egg » followed by the Fera Fish and an exquisite Lobster mousseline. We finished our spectacular culinary experience with a selection of seasonal sorbet and an amazing flowing chocolate cake. The bergamot zest was without doubt a pleasant and surprising touch.

Mixed Salad
The perfect egg (green asparagus and morels)
Fera fish from the LĂ©man lake in cuchaule crust (confit grenaille potatoes, rhubarb and wild garlic emulsion)
Lobster mousseline (prepared according to Paul Haeberlin's recipe - Father of Marc Haeberlin)
Home made selection of seasonal sorbet
Flowing chocolate cake (bergamot zest and coconut sorbet)

After an ideal and relaxing night, we headed in a casual dress code to the well known breakfast of the Royal open from 6.30 am to 10.30 am. We chose the loggia, peaceful and bright space to taste the breakfast buffet. The selection of bread and pastries was excellent and the service was again, very caring yet polished and professional.

SPA Wonderland

After a royal breakfast, we visited the spa and pools area: 1500 m2 of 8 treatments and massage rooms, interior and exterior connected pools, green relaxation terrace, exercise center, high-end selection of treatments dedicated to health and beauty of the skin, a space for hairdressing (that can be hidden from other users), hammam, saunas, privatized spas rooms and last but not least: a ladies area. In addition to this impressive installation, the complex brings together luxury, calm and rejuvenation with their different exclusive treatments. A real retreat in the middle of the city.

We particularly appreciated the team behind this composition: Jocelyn Pedersen – Director of the Spa - was an absolute delight. She and her team made us feel confortable and very welcomed.
